Last week we finally received the coffee table that we ordered a few months ago.
We wanted it to be big enough so that our Golden Retriever wouldn't push off its cups with its tail.
We wanted to have enough storage space in the floor to be able to store a few blankets folded up for the cold Bendigo nights.
It was made to these specific measurements by a local furniture maker and they did a great job.
But of course it has its imperfections because it is made of wood.
There are spots and knots in the table surface and at first Karen wasn't sure she would like it.
But for me it is the imperfections that make it unique and give it character.
You turn it into a conversation starter.
You ensure that it is not just an everyday item, garden type, mass-produced piece of furniture, but something unique and ours.
We all have our imperfections.
Our scars.
Our quirks.
There are elements in our personality that we would prefer to hide and we wish we were normal like everyone else.
The reality is that nobody is completely normal, we are all a little weird.
And that's fine.
Your imperfections are unique and an important part of who you are.
There is no one on this planet like you.
And I think that's wonderful.
You were created for a purpose.
Created in the image of God.
Not a mass product, but a masterpiece.
Designed like no one else does, so that you can make a positive difference in the world that no one else can make.
So embrace who you are.
Be proud of your scars.
You are a wonderful, imperfect person.
And that's what we love about you.
