Learn how to screen your patients for neck vascular pathologies using the latest IFOMPT framework with legend Roger Kerry.

The international framework for the examination of the neck region for possible vascular pathologies of the neck was updated towards the end of 2020. It included several major changes in the approach to assessment and treatment of the neck.

The reason we had to update the framework is that since the beginning of manual therapy in the past, there have been neurovascular safety incidents in patients in connection with the treatment and, more recently, the appearance of vascular masquerades. These are arterial pathologies that can potentially appear as MSK pain and dysfunction.

In this course, Roger Kerry guides you through the changes you need to make to your practice using the latest evidence base on the Framework. By attending this course, you will improve your understanding of risk and pathology to ensure safety.

The Tutor – Roger Kerry

Roger Kerry is Associate Professor in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Nottingham, UK. He is a qualified Chartered Physiotherapist and an Honorary Member of the UK Musculoskeletal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists.

He is well publicized in these areas and has been an invited speaker at numerous international conferences.

The course

Cervical risk assessment with Roger Kerry
This course is an updated version of an earlier popular course on Physioplus called Cervical Arterial Dysfunction (CAD). In September 2020, the International Federation of Orthopedic Manipulative Physiotherapists (IFOMPT) published the revised international IFOMPT Cervical Framework. The terminology Cervical Artery Dysfunction (CAD) has been replaced with vascular pathologies of the neck and provocative position testing is no longer recommended. In this course, Roger Kerry draws on the best available knowledge to guide physical therapists into the rationale and clinical framework for assessing and managing the risk of vascular pathology in people with headache and / or neck pain.
