World PT Day is Tuesday, September 8th. Are you ready?
World PT Day is an opportunity for physiotherapists from around the world to raise awareness of the crucial contribution the profession makes to people's health, mobility and independence.
This year the topic will focus on rehabilitation and COVID-19, which will also be in the foreground of our thinking in the months and years to come. Our profession is uniquely positioned to meet the challenge and help our most vulnerable people regain independence and quality of life in ways we have never seen before. Although at this stage it is easy to have COVID-19 fatigue and the thought of seeing and creating more resources is exhausting, this is our time to face the challenge.
Contributing to World PT Day in a new way
Why not contribute to World Physiotherapy Day in another way this year and help Physiopedia build the largest evidence-based COVID-19 rehab resource for all clinicians worldwide. It's easier to get involved than you think. We have a special content development project that you can contribute to. We have a team of volunteers to help you keep up to date and share your expertise on the biggest stage.
To help with the rehabilitation effort, Physioplus is offering COVID-19 rehabilitation courses to ensure we are all qualified and have the knowledge to help those who need us now more than ever.
COVID-19 post-acute rehabilitation
People with severe COVID-19 infection have rehabilitation needs in the acute, post-acute and long-term phases of the disease. Many people who have suffered from COVID-19 may now be at risk of long-term impairment or disability. Physiotherapists are vital to the rehabilitation effort at all stages of this disease. Rehabilitation is beneficial to health and functioning, improves recovery, and can reduce disability, facilitate early discharge, and reduce the risk of readmission. Physiotherapists also play a key role in supporting and empowering people through rehabilitation processes.
Rehabilitation is the key to long-term recovery
