It was a year like no other that brought upheaval and uncertainty for both professional consultants and their clients. No wonder many of the top-read articles of 2020 on CT Online dealt with topics related to the COVID-19 pandemic and racial injustice. Other popular articles have focused on helping clients with relationship problems, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and other mental health diagnoses. Pieces focusing on practitioners' confidentiality, compassionate fatigue, and other professional topics also attracted great interest from readers.
More than 150 articles were published in 2020 on ct.counseling.org. This year, most of the top 10 most-read articles were online exclusives that did not appear in Counseling Today's print magazine.

Some of the most important search terms that brought people to the website were self-care for counselors, empathy fatigue, polyvagal theory, "self-care for the activist counselor", trauma-informed counseling and burnout of counselors.
