I came across this quote from the leading guru John C. Maxwell today,
If you are a leader, you should never forget that everyone needs encouragement. And everyone who receives it – young or old, successful or less successful, unknown or famous – is changed.
We live in a world where it is easy to criticize and find mistakes.
Scream from the cheap seats.
To tell people how we can do better.
Or just to knock people down.
But a leader shouldn't do that.
If we really want people to work better and develop their full potential, we have to be encouragers.
We have to catch people who do the right thing.
We have to build it up.
We need to identify their unique strengths.
We have to celebrate progress no matter how small.
This is one of the reasons why I started this blog almost 10 years ago and it is one of the driving forces behind what I do.
And I appreciate that memory of a man I respect enormously to keep doing it.
