Our promise for World PT Day is that our Coronavirus MOOC will be available free of charge by the end of 2020.

Happy World PT Day! World PT Day is an opportunity for physiotherapists from all over the world to raise awareness of the critical contribution that the profession makes to keeping people healthy, mobile and independent. This year it's about coronavirus rehabilitation.

At the beginning of the year, Physiopedia published a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) with the title "Coronavirus Disease Program" via the online learning platform Physioplus. This MOOC aimed to equip practicing physical therapists the knowledge, practices, and skills so that they can play a proactive role in global and local efforts to reduce the impact of this pandemic. The coronavirus disease program will remain open to everyone as a free course until the end of 2020. So why not check out the 4 courses that make up the program now?

Coronavirus course report

Today Physiopedia published all the details of the coronavirus disease program in a report (Physiopedia does the same with all MOOCs). The report can be read by anyone and is a celebration of the scope and reach of the Physiopedia MOOCs.

Coronavirus MOOC report

The MOOCs that Physiopedia creates each year are a huge undertaking and would not be possible without the hard work of the content authors. Many thanks to everyone involved! It was a quick response and turnaround from the team that made the performance even more impressive.

This year a large number of people visited and dealt with the course content and came from over 200 countries. You can read the completion and retention rates for each course, as well as the qualitative and quantitative feedback in the report. The most important part of the report is that over 90% of participants felt that after completing the program they would have a better understanding of the clinical presentation, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of COVID-19. Her understanding of infection prevention and control, as well as hand hygiene and personal protective equipment procedures and guidelines, also improved.

There are a number of follow-up courses on Physioplus that specifically deal with the rehabilitation of coronaviruses. So be sure to check this out!

COVID-19 post-acute rehabilitation
People with severe COVID-19 infection have rehabilitation needs in the acute, post-acute and long-term phases of the disease. Many people who have suffered from COVID-19 may now be at risk of long-term impairment or disability. Physiotherapists are vital to the rehabilitation effort at all stages of this disease. Rehabilitation is beneficial to health and functioning, improves recovery, and can reduce disability, facilitate early discharge, and reduce the risk of readmission. Physiotherapists also play a key role in supporting and empowering people through rehabilitation processes.
