Best project

The development of new content is an important driving force for the creation of Physiopedia pages. Physiopedia has many partner organizations (including educational, clinical and professional organizations) that contribute to the growth of content on specific topics through Physiopedia projects . Queens University in Kingston (Canada) has been contributing to the development of content pages related to neuromuscular rehabilitation since 2017. This project was last launched by Dr. Vince DePaul and has seen the creation of more than 35 neuromuscular rehabilitation sites.

The Queens University project is a clear example of what can be achieved when physiotherapy students are taught by a knowledge expert like Dr. DePaul can be managed and collaborate with an open access platform like Physiopedia. Dr. DePaul & # 39; s hardworking work and leadership was outstanding and earned him the honor of the most effective physiopedia project. Congratulations to Dr. DePaul and all of his students.

Physiospot Superstar

It is also a wonderful virtual stage for presenting initiatives and contributions from Physiopedia. The Physiospot Superstar Award is given to the person who has published the most contributions on the Physiospot platform. this year the honor goes to Kim Jackson .

Kim is not only busy being our content manager, she also somehow finds the time to proactively contribute to the Physiospot by writing interesting pieces like when physiotherapists treat superheroes as well as highlighting the great work that was done monthly through the topic of the month . Kim has a dynamic mind and enjoys asking tough questions and highlighting important issues related to the global growth of physiotherapy. Excellent leadership

Although many candidates deserve this recognition, there is one person who has received overwhelming support for this nomination. Tarina Van Der Stockt, was identified by her colleagues as a natural leader who is always available and willing to roll up her sleeves to offer help.

Tarina is the education director at Physioplus and leads a team that is responsible for creating and maintaining Physioplus courses, learning activities and forums. Tarina also works tirelessly to get Physioplus courses accredited worldwide. Tarina is a thought leader, a respected member of the Physiopedia organization and an all-round real person. Please congratulate Tarina with us on her award for her outstanding leadership. If you want to know more about Tarina, you can read her Top Contributor Shout Out here .

Physiotherapy Impact Award

Although this is another category that has received a number of nominations, we can all agree that the following person deserves the Physiotherapy Impact Award wholeheartedly: Tony Lowe .

Although Tony is one of the few Physiopedia members who are not physiotherapists, Physiopedia would not be what or where it is today without him. Tony has a background in mechanical engineering and a doctorate in research in the fields of quality management and innovation. Tony has a passion for opening knowledge translation through online education. In combination with Rachael's passion to make physiotherapy knowledge free and accessible to everyone, Physiopedia and the associated platforms were born. We've all asked for Tony's help, from resetting a password (yes, Tony, it happened again), to questions about wiki coding, to starting a more ambitious project on the World Wide Web. Tony is the often unsung hero behind the scenes and works countless hours to see how our physiotherapy efforts are realized. Tony undoubtedly earned this award because his efforts have spurred physiotherapy practice by facilitating access to evidence-based knowledge, especially for those who practice in contexts with fewer resources. Tony has influenced clinical practice around the world, and no doubt Tony has benefited from accessible physiotherapeutic knowledge.

A real THANK YOU from all of you, Tony.

Innovation Award

This award deserves special attention because it highlights the creativity and innovation that occur in the physiotherapy profession. With dynamic projects, our profession can grow and evolve to meet the ever-changing needs of patients and the healthcare system as a whole. A prime example of this is the recent Cards for Humanity project, which Dr. Jenny Setchell and divided by Physiopedia .

Dr. Setchell is a Senior Research Fellow in Physiotherapy at the University of Queensland, Australia. The Cards for Humanity project examines the human dimension of disease and how healthcare professionals have (or have not) looked after the human elements of life with muscular dystrophy. This is a wonderfully innovative project that reminds clinicians to always incorporate the human factor into their rehabilitation plan. Please congratulate Dr. Setchell and her team for highlighting the humanity aspect of our profession.

Global Impact Award

This award goes to a physiotherapist who has demonstrated a high level of thoughtfulness for others (peers and patients) and who always makes maximum efforts for a specific project. She was a top staff member for Physiopedia in March 2020 and has made significant contributions to Physiopedia content pages and to Physioplus courses as a Learning Architect. She was also a key figure in coordinating and developing the annual online physiopedia online courses (also known as MOOCs). We are of course talking about Naomi O’Reilly !

Naomi deserves this honor for all the reasons mentioned above, but also for her vision of what a physiotherapist should be; A resilient team player who can adapt to the needs and goals of both patients and colleagues. Naomi is a competent physiotherapist who believes in sharing resources and making knowledge openly available. Hence their committed participation in the MOOC process. Naomi inspires everyone who works with her and her persistence is contagious! Thanks for everything you do Naomi!

Congratulations to all of our award winners.

Please take the time to pause and honor the efforts of the above recipients. Your efforts have undoubtedly enriched your knowledge and influenced your practice. Send them a reminder of how important your contribution was to you.

A big thank you to everyone who believes in Physiopedia and its mission and makes participating in this organization an enriching experience. Keep an eye out for next year's awards and recipients – maybe you are!
