They come when we least expect them.
If we miss this promotion.
When our teenagers play.
When a crisis has occurred within the team we lead.
When everyone else is turning in a certain direction that you know is wrong.
These moments do not occur when the sun is shining and the angels are singing.
They occur during financial struggles, tense relationships, and global pandemics.
Bravery medals are not awarded in times of peace, but from brave acts in the middle of the battle.
We can rarely choose the moments that define us.
But we can choose our answer.
These moments can forge (or in some cases only reveal) our character.
You can show our resilience and perseverance.
You can really define our level of optimism.
And they certainly show others what our true values are.
